“I grew up in West Tisbury and started working in the events world here when I was sixteen. My first job was at a party supply rental company, and before long I was picking up catering shifts—serving at weddings and all kinds of events. Each summer I tried something new in the industry: cooking, event management, and eventually bartending once I turned 21. Those early years gave me a real sense of how many moving parts need to come together to make an event feel effortless.

Over time, I found myself drawn more and more to bartending. I worked behind the bar at restaurants on-island and in Vermont, where I spent a few winters. I loved experimenting with new cocktail ideas and putting fresh spins on the classics. I’ve always been someone who loves to cook and play with flavors, so bartending felt like a natural extension of that creativity.

Every summer when I returned to the Vineyard, I came back to event work. The Island is an incredible place for events—stunning landscapes, historic venues, catering teams who’ve been perfecting their craft for generations, and vendors who can make anything happen. But I always felt the bar didn’t get the same level of attention. It deserved thoughtful planning, good design, and the same intention that every other part of an event receives.

I believe great cocktails, a smart layout, and a bit of creativity can completely elevate the guest experience. When I started this business in 2019, that was my mission. I bought a vintage horse trailer, renovated it, and launched our first seasonal cocktail menu. I wanted to create something fun, memorable, and truly special—a bar experience that matched the beauty and energy of Vineyard events. The Caravan was born, and the response was incredible. After our first season, we expanded our services so we could bring that same elevated experience to events where the Caravan couldn’t go.

By 2024, the business had grown in ways I never expected, and it felt like the right moment for a rebrand. Cocktail Caravan MV became Summer Solstice Beverage Co.—a name that reflects the range of services we offer and honors my late mother’s store, which I grew up in on Main Street in Vineyard Haven. Her brilliance, boldness, and creativity continue to shape everything I do; neither this business nor I would be who we are without her influence.
